For institutions

Claim your university profile

If you represent an institution U4S covers and something on its page is wrong, tell us. Review is done by a person, and claiming a profile does not hand anyone control of it.

How this actually works, before you start

This page does not send anything. U4S has no server that receives form submissions, and nothing you type here leaves your browser unless you send it yourself — by copying the request into an email, or by using the prefilled message, which opens in your own email application. Until you press send in that application, U4S has received nothing.

U4S is a static site. It has no database, no accounts and no server that receives form submissions, and rather than build something that looks like one, the claim process is honest about being manual. Each institution’s page has a claim form that assembles a structured request in your browser; you then send it yourself, by email. Nothing is stored on this site and nothing is transmitted by it.

That is slower than a Submit button. It is also the only version of this that does not mislead you: a form that cleared itself and said “thank you, your claim has been submitted” would be telling you U4S had received something when it had not, and you would wait for a reply that could never come.

What happens next is a person at U4S reading your message, checking it against your institution’s own published sources, and correcting the page where you are right. If a correction rests on something you told us rather than on a source we retrieved, the page will say so and name you as the source.

What claiming does and does not do

Claiming does not transfer editorial control
A U4S page about an institution remains a U4S page. Representatives can tell us what is wrong, supply official sources and ask for corrections. They do not gain the ability to write, approve or veto what the page says.
Nothing a claimant sends changes a page automatically
There is no mechanism by which a claim edits anything. Every suggested change is reviewed by a person against the institution’s own published sources, exactly as any other change to this site is.
Institution-supplied information keeps its provenance
If U4S publishes something because an institution told us, the page says so and names the source. It is never presented as independently verified when it was not.
Trust notices stay
Verification status, review dates and the notices explaining what U4S has and has not checked remain on a page after it is claimed. A representative cannot have them removed, and cannot have criticism or an unflattering status taken down because they claimed the profile.
No commercial relationship affects anything
U4S does not sell placement, ordering or prominence, and has no paid tier for institutions. There is no ranking to influence, and nothing on this site is ordered by anything an institution could pay for.
An institutional email is evidence, not proof
An address at an institution’s domain is a useful signal and nothing more. It is weighed alongside the role claimed and, where one is published, the institution’s own staff directory. No address is treated as verification by itself, and no verification happens automatically.

How U4S checks who you are

By reading, essentially. An email address at your institution’s domain is a useful signal and it is not proof — addresses are easy to come by and easy to spoof, and nothing here treats one as verification. Alongside it we look at the role you state and whether it is plausible for the change you are asking for, and, where your institution publishes a staff directory, whether you appear in it.

No part of that is automatic and no status on this site changes because a form was filled in. If we cannot establish that you are who you say you are, we will still check the substance of what you told us against your institution’s own pages — a correct fact from an unverified source is still a correct fact, and we would rather fix the page than stand on procedure.

What U4S collects

From this website, nothing. The form runs entirely in your browser and there is no request to any U4S server at any point; if you close the tab, what you typed is gone.

If you choose to email us at info@helperg.com, we then hold what you sent, in an ordinary mailbox, for as long as it takes to deal with it — the same as any other message. Please do not include anything about a student, or any personal information beyond your own name, role and work address, because none of it is needed to correct a page.

Claim requests are never published. Nothing on a public page will say that an institution has been in touch, or who from.

About the system behind this

U4S has built a proper claim system — accounts for university representatives, confirmation by a link mailed to a work address, and a record of proposed corrections with the official page each one cites. It is not switched on. The database and mail settings it needs are not configured here, and every part of it answers that it is unavailable rather than accepting something it cannot keep.

So the route on this page is the real one, and it is the only one. What is described above is what actually happens today: you assemble a request here and send it yourself. When the system is switched on, this page will say so and the privacy policy will already describe what it stores, because it already does.

One thing worth stating in advance, because it does not change when the system is live: confirming an email address at an institution’s domain will never approve a claim by itself. A domain match shows that a mailbox works. Whether somebody speaks for a university is a judgement a person at U4S makes, records in their own words, and signs their name to.
