Read access to what U4S publishes. Not enabled yet, and free of charge when it is.

The API is not enabled

Every endpoint currently answers with 503 and an explanation. The same facts are published on this site and remain available there. When the API is switched on it will be said here, and there is no waiting list to join.

What it serves

Eight resources, each with a public page behind it: countries, cities, universities, subjects, programmes, scholarships, admissions, housing.

Who may read it

public limitednot available
The same facts university4students.com publishes, read with a key and rate-limited.
U4S_API_ENABLED is not set, so no endpoint answers with data.
institution scopednot available
One institution’s own records, for a key issued to that institution.

commercialnot available
A paid tier. No product is sold, so nothing grants this today.
No commercial product is sold and no price has been decided, so nothing entitles this tier. It is unreachable rather than unimplemented.
internalnot available
U4S operations. Never served over the public API, at any address, to any key.

What it costs

Nothing. U4S charges nobody for this API and publishes no amount for it. Every value this API returns is also published on university4students.com and stays published there regardless of any commercial arrangement. The API is a convenience, never the only route to a fact.

What is not promised

U4S offers no service level agreement for this API. There is no uptime commitment, no support response time and no compensation, because none has been agreed with anybody — and publishing a number nobody is accountable for would be worse than saying so.

Within v1, fields are added and never removed or retyped, and an unknown field is always safe to ignore. A removal or a type change means v2, served alongside v1. Values may change whenever U4S re-reads a source — that is the API working, not breaking.

Who owns the facts

U4S claims no ownership of the facts here. A programme’s name, an institution’s fee page and an admission requirement belong to the institution that publishes them, and every record names the source it was read from. What U4S offers is the compilation: which sources were read, when, and what was verified. Those terms cover the compilation and not the underlying facts.
