Aarhus University

This is an orientation page, not an admissions page. It sets out the questions a prospective student would want answered and points each one at the office that can answer it properly.

Next verification step

Tuition was not published for this institution. Open the institution’s own fee pages and check whether the page states which student categories are charged at all, and whether the amount shown covers a year or a shorter period. Publish nothing unless the page itself states the amount, the currency, the academic year, the study level, the student category and the period it covers.

Student life context

Student life is built out of unglamorous specifics. How the teaching week is arranged, how much of your time is scheduled for you and how much you organise yourself, whether assessment is spread out or concentrated, how far you travel between home and teaching, and what students run for each other: those things decide what your days feel like. They are also programme-level facts rather than university-level ones, so the description that matters is the one attached to the course you apply to rather than to the institution as a whole.

Worth establishing here: the language used for teaching, the language used for assessment and the language used for the administration you will deal with, since those need not be the same and can vary by programme. Where teaching happens and how students usually get there. What the calendar looks like across the year, including the quiet periods. Whether there is a students' association, what it organises, and whether joining is automatic. Student services will answer the formal side, and students already there will tell you what a normal week actually looks like. General background on what shapes life as a student is only ever a starting point for those conversations.

Housing considerations

Accommodation is the piece most likely to cause trouble, and it causes it through timing rather than drama. Establish whether the university offers or allocates housing at all, and if it does, who is eligible and when applications are considered; whether an admission decision has any bearing on it; and what the local rental market expects of an applicant who is not yet in the country. Those are questions for the accommodation office, which will also say where the university's responsibility stops and the private market begins.

Doing this early matters because housing decisions and academic decisions do not arrive on the same schedule, and the options open to somebody searching late are not the options open to somebody searching early. Before committing, establish what the agreement commits you to, what notice period applies, what the rent includes, what is billed separately and how a deposit is held and returned, then get the answers in writing. Orientation on student housing generally describes the shape of the task. If you expect to share, settling how shared costs will be handled before anyone moves in avoids most of the friction later.

International student considerations

Arriving from another country means running a parallel process alongside your application, with its own owners and its own timing. The categories are these: permission to enter and to remain, which is a matter for the relevant official authority; assessment of the qualifications you already hold, which is a matter for the admissions office; healthcare and insurance arrangements; banking and identification; and whatever registration a person newly resident is expected to complete.

This page states none of the specifics on purpose. Each category belongs to an authority that sets and revises its own rules, and an answer that was accurate for another applicant, or accurate at another time, may not be accurate for you. Ask the international office which categories it administers, which it advises on, and which it will refer you elsewhere for. Then take each specific to the body that owns it, and keep what you are told in writing rather than trusting a summary from anybody, including us.

A few further things are worth settling early: which language your programme is taught and assessed in, which language the institution uses for official correspondence and agreements, and what language support exists if you would want it. Ask before you travel rather than after. The practical preparation is much easier when it is sequenced, and preparing for a move abroad step by step is a reasonable template to work from.

Admissions

What applies to you is decided by the institution, published by the institution, and specific to the programme and intake you are applying for. That is why this page names no criterion, no date and no process. Any version we wrote would be a copy of one route through one intake, and copies age badly while still reading as though they were current, which is the worst combination for somebody making plans.

The reliable method is unexciting. Go to the official website this page links to, find the programme itself, and read every page the programme links to about applying. Note precisely what is asked for and in what form, and note whether applications are made to the institution directly or through a central service, because the official pages state which is used. If your qualifications were awarded in a different system, ask the admissions office how they are assessed rather than inferring an answer from somebody else's result.

Where the wording is ambiguous, ask, and keep the reply; an email you can point to later is worth more than a recollection. If you are looking at several institutions, keep a written record of what each one asks for, because they are unlikely to match. Reading official material closely is also an early encounter with an unfamiliar academic system, and adjusting to how a new academic system works is its own piece of preparation.

Tuition and fees

No fee figure appears here, and none should. Amounts are set per programme and per intake, they are revised, and a figure quoted on a page like this one would keep looking authoritative long after it stopped being accurate. Whether you are charged at all may depend on the category the institution places you in for fee purposes, and that is the institution's determination rather than an assumption for you to make on your own or from another applicant's experience.

There is a further trap worth avoiding: a published amount may cover a period shorter than a full year rather than a year of study, so an amount and the period it refers to have to be read together. Ask the admissions or fee office which category applies to you, what that means in practice, and what any amount covers and over what period. A general orientation on how fees are presented can help you frame the question. Then read the institution's own fee pages for the relevant year, and treat those pages as the answer rather than anything read elsewhere.

Language requirements
Not located. U4S records no language-test threshold for any programme, anywhere.
Required documents

Intake and deadlines
Not reviewed. U4S publishes no deadline without the intake it belongs to, and has not read this page’s dates.

Entry requirements change between intakes and differ by programme, by the qualification you hold and by where you are applying from. U4S records where the official requirements are published and when that page was last retrieved — nothing more. Students should verify current requirements on the official admissions page before relying on anything.

Next verification step

Open the official admissions page and record, only where it states them explicitly: the intake it applies to, the deadlines with their years, and the applicant categories it covers. U4S records no grade, test score or acceptance rate at any point.

Housing

This is about housing the institution itself runs. It says nothing about private rentals near the campus, which are a different market with different contracts, different prices and different consequences if something goes wrong.

Does the institution manage housing itself?
Not reviewed. Locating an accommodation page does not establish this — some such pages exist mainly to explain that the institution does not.
Is housing guaranteed?
Not reviewed. U4S states no guarantee unless the institution has stated one in writing, because a student would plan a move around it.
Residence types
Not reviewed.
Application period
Not reviewed. U4S publishes no housing deadline without the year it belongs to.
Cost
Not reviewed. U4S publishes no rent figure without a currency, a period, a cycle and what it covers.
Deposit
Not reviewed. A deposit is not rent, and U4S records one only where the institution states it separately.
Private renting
U4S has not recorded whether this page covers private renting. Private accommodation is not university-managed housing, and U4S lists no private landlords or agencies.

Where a line reads “not reviewed”, U4S has not retrieved an official page stating it. That is a gap in U4S — it is never a statement that an institution has no housing, offers no guarantee, or has nothing available.

Next verification step

Open the official accommodation page and record, only where it states them explicitly: whether the institution manages housing itself, whether it offers any guarantee and in what words, the residence types it names, the application period with its year, and any cost with its currency, period and what it covers.

Programmes

U4S has not read a programme catalogue for this institution. That is a gap in U4S, not a statement about what the institution offers — check its own website for the programmes it runs.
