Autonomous University of Barcelona

An orientation page for prospective students of this university in Barcelona. It lists what to establish and where to establish it, and deliberately contains nothing that only the institution itself can state.

Next verification step

Tuition was not published for this institution. Open the institution’s own fee pages and check whether the amount is stated per credit or per year, who sets it, and which student category it applies to. Publish nothing unless the page itself states the amount, the currency, the academic year, the study level, the student category and the period it covers.

Student life context

The texture of student life comes from structure rather than from impressions: how many hours you are expected in class, how independent study is spread around them, how assessment falls across the year, whether you would move around during a normal week, and how long the journey between home and teaching takes. Those differ between programmes inside one institution, so the useful question is always about your programme rather than about the university as a whole.

Worth establishing before you commit: which language teaching, assessment and everyday administration are conducted in for your programme, and whether it is the same throughout; whether the places you would use during a week sit close together; what societies, sport and student organisations exist and who runs them; and what the university offers when a term goes badly. Student services can answer most of it, and the answers can change between intakes.

The adjustment itself is a separate matter from the timetable. Our notes on what settling in tends to involve describe what a lot of students report rather than what anybody ought to feel, and they are worth reading before the point at which they apply. Locating the university's own support services early is the other half of that, because a service you have already found is easier to use.

Housing considerations

The reason to start on accommodation early is that it runs on a timetable of its own. Ask the accommodation office what the university provides itself, what it only points you towards, whether there is a separate application and when it opens, and whether anything about housing depends on your study place being confirmed first. Ask what happens if the two do not line up, because that is the situation people actually find themselves in.

If you rent privately, the questions are the same everywhere and worth writing down: how long the agreement lasts, what deposit is held and how it is returned, whether a guarantor is expected, what the rent includes, who handles repairs, and what notice either side gives. Do not pay for something nobody has viewed, and keep the terms in a document rather than in a conversation, since a document is what you would need later.

Our walkthrough of arranging housing from another country covers the sequence and the traps that recur everywhere, and it is a reasonable way to prepare your questions. What is available near this university, at what cost and on what terms, is a matter for its accommodation office and for students already living there, neither of which this page can stand in for.

International student considerations

Arriving from another country means separating questions that feel like one question. Which category the university places you in for admission and for fees, and what evidence it wants. How qualifications you already hold are assessed, and by whom. What entry, residence and registration formalities apply to your situation, which only the relevant official authority in Spain can tell you. What health cover and insurance are expected of you, which is a question for the offices concerned rather than an assumption to make.

Take the university's part to its international student office, take the official part to the body that owns it, and take nothing on trust from an unofficial summary, this one included. Ask what the office does on your behalf and what it expects you to do yourself, and put your own circumstances in writing when you ask, because a general question tends to attract a general answer that fits nobody exactly.

If the process starts to feel heavier than you expected, that is common rather than a sign that something has gone wrong. Our note on recognising when to ask for help is a reminder that asking early is ordinary practice, and that the offices involved deal with these questions constantly. Keeping a record of who told you what, and when, saves a great deal of retracing later.

Admissions

You will find no requirements, deadlines, tests or acceptance information here, because those belong to the university and change between intakes and between programmes. The method that works: open the official website above, find the exact programme and level you intend to apply for, identify the application route that covers somebody with your background, and read that route's own pages rather than a summary of them.

Then put your specific case to the admissions office in writing and keep the reply, because no general page can account for an individual history of study. Ask what happens after submission as well as before it. If a page you found elsewhere and the office disagree, the office is the one that decides, and that holds regardless of how confidently the other page is written.

If you are still choosing between places rather than between programmes, background reading on the cities themselves through our city guides can help you work out what you would be taking on outside the university. That is a separate question from admission and worth keeping separate; the admission decision, and every step that precedes it, stays with the institution.

Tuition and fees

No amount is printed on this page. Fees are revised, they differ by programme and by level, and they differ according to the category an applicant is placed in, so any figure quoted at second hand is a snapshot with no authority and an unknown expiry. It is more useful to tell you where to look and what to ask than to give you a number you would have to check anyway.

When you do look, establish the basis before anything else: an amount may be quoted per credit rather than per year, which changes entirely what a total means, and a per-credit figure cannot be compared with an annual one until you know which you are holding. That is a possibility to check rather than a statement about how any system is arranged. Ask too what is billed separately from tuition, and when.

It is worth asking in the same conversation whether any support exists and who administers it, since that is often handled by a different office again; our overview of scholarships, grants and student support explains the vocabulary in general terms. The figures themselves belong on the university's own fee pages for the year in which you would begin, read for your own programme and category.

Admissions

Institution-wide admissions pageSource located

The institution’s own general admissions page. A particular programme may set requirements of its own, which this does not cover.

Application portal
Not located. Apply through the admissions page above.
Language requirements
Not located. U4S records no language-test threshold for any programme, anywhere.
Required documents
Not located.
Intake and deadlines
Not reviewed. U4S publishes no deadline without the intake it belongs to, and has not read this page’s dates.

Entry requirements change between intakes and differ by programme, by the qualification you hold and by where you are applying from. U4S records where the official requirements are published and when that page was last retrieved — nothing more. Students should verify current requirements on the official admissions page before relying on anything.

Next verification step

Open the official admissions page and record, only where it states them explicitly: the intake it applies to, the deadlines with their years, and the applicant categories it covers. U4S records no grade, test score or acceptance rate at any point.

What the institution asks for

Read from the institution’s own admissions pages, in the institution’s own words and units. U4S does not decide whether anyone meets any of it.

U4S never converts between grading systems or between language tests. A GPA is not a percentage, a UK classification is not a German Note, and an IELTS band is not a TOEFL score — institutions decide what they accept, and only the institution’s own published threshold governs an application. Everything below is recorded in the units the institution itself used.

Requirements marked as institution-wide were read from a page that covers more than this programme. They are what the institution publishes for applicants generally, and the programme’s own requirements may differ.

Everything above is a partial reading of one page. The official admissions page is the only complete statement of what this institution asks for: https://www.uab.cat/web/studies/undergraduate/admission/university-entrance-qualifications-for-eu-citizens-or-bilateral-agreements-1345666835462.html

Housing

U4S has not located an official accommodation page for Autonomous University of Barcelona. That is a gap in U4S — it is not a statement that the institution has no housing, and it should not be read as one.

This is about housing the institution itself runs. It says nothing about private rentals near the campus, which are a different market with different contracts, different prices and different consequences if something goes wrong.

Official student support

Offices U4S has located on this institution’s own site. That an institution has a service means its website says so. It does not mean the service has capacity, answers quickly, can help with a particular problem, or that anybody found it useful. U4S measures none of those and publishes no rating of any service.

U4S links to an institution’s own page or contact form and publishes no email address. A list of institutional addresses is a list for anybody who wants one, and a contact form routes a student’s question better than a shared inbox.

If somebody is in immediate danger, use the local emergency number rather than any service listed here. U4S has not verified a single institution’s emergency contact, and a partly-verified one is worse than none.

Programmes

U4S has not read a programme catalogue for this institution. That is a gap in U4S, not a statement about what the institution offers — check its own website for the programmes it runs.
