What U4S has verified
OrientationThe official website was retrieved and the page confirmed the institution. Everything else on this page is orientation unless marked otherwise below.
- Tuition and fees
- No figure is published on this page.
- Admissions
- U4S publishes no entry requirement, deadline or grade for any institution.
- Scholarships and support
- U4S names no funding scheme and states no eligibility.
Next verification step
Tuition was not published for this institution. Open the institution’s own fee pages and check whether the amount covers a year or a shorter period, and which student category it applies to. Publish nothing unless the page itself states the amount, the currency, the academic year or intake, the study level, the student category and the period it covers, and unless each amount can be tied to the row it belongs to.
Student life context
What a student's week feels like comes down to arrangements you can ask about in advance: the timetable, the size of the group you are taught in, how far you travel between where you live and where you are taught, whether the social side is organised for you or left to students to build, and whether you will be working alongside your studies. None of that is visible from outside, and none of it is uniform across an institution, since it usually differs between programmes and between levels.
So ask, and ask specifically. Student services at HSE University can tell you how the teaching week is structured on the programme you are considering, what proportion is timetabled contact and what is independent work, and what is expected in terms of attendance. Ask which societies and sport exist, how and when they take new members, and which language they operate in. Ask too what academic advice and wellbeing support is available, whether it needs booking ahead, and who a student approaches first when something goes wrong.
Meeting people rarely happens by accident, and it happens more slowly when everyone around you already has a routine. Ask what runs in the opening weeks for students who are new, whether anything is organised specifically for those arriving from elsewhere, and whether there are shared spaces that stay open outside teaching hours. Building a circle in an unfamiliar place takes deliberate effort, and knowing what already exists saves you inventing it from scratch.
Housing considerations
Accommodation is worth treating as its own project, started early and kept separate from your application. Establish which routes are actually open to you: rooms the institution allocates, listings it publishes without managing, and the private rental market in Moscow. Ask the accommodation office whether a separate application is required, when it opens, how places are allocated when demand runs higher than supply, and what your position would be if nothing were allocated to you.
Then get specific about what you would be agreeing to. Ask what a room includes, what is billed in addition, what the rules are on guests and on staying through holiday periods, how long the commitment runs and what ending it early would involve. On the private market, establish the deposit or guarantee expected, what a landlord asks of somebody newly arrived, and how disagreements are settled. If you will be sharing, settling money questions with flatmates early prevents most of the friction that otherwise follows.
The reason to start early is plain. Arriving without somewhere settled means house-hunting in an unfamiliar place while also starting a course, and each competes for exactly the same attention. Reading about how shared university housing tends to work can help you decide whether that route suits you at all, before you spend much time on the alternatives.
International student considerations
Arriving from another country adds a set of categories to settle alongside the academic ones: entry and permission to stay as a student, recognition of prior qualifications, any language evidence requested, health cover, banking and payment routes, and any registration expected once you are there. This page says nothing about the substance of any of them, because each is settled either by the institution's international office or by the relevant official authority, and neither is bound by a summary written elsewhere.
Write to the international office with the list as a whole rather than in pieces, and ask which items it administers, which it can only advise on, and which sit entirely with you. Ask what has to be an original, what may be a copy, what needs translating, and which steps cannot be taken until after you arrive. It is worth asking plainly which language your programme is taught in and which language the administrative side runs in, since those are separate questions with separate answers. Handling day-to-day language differences is a practical business of forms, appointments and reading instructions accurately.
Admissions
This page carries no entry criteria, no dates and no indication of anybody's chances, and the omission is deliberate. What applies to an applicant depends on the programme, the level, and the system a person studied in beforehand, and it is published and revised by the institution itself. Anything restated elsewhere is a copy that nobody is responsible for keeping accurate.
To find what applies to you, open the official website shown on this page, go to its admissions section, and locate the exact programme at the exact level for the intake you would join. Note where the application is actually submitted, since that determines where documents go and who can answer questions about them. If any wording is open to more than one reading, ask the admissions office directly and keep the answer. How these pages are written explains why we send you there rather than paraphrase.
Tuition and fees
You will not find an amount here. Fees belong to the institution, are revised on its schedule, and depend on the programme, the level and the category an application is placed in. A figure lifted onto a third-party page carries an implied promise that it applies to whoever is reading, and that is a promise nobody outside the institution is in a position to make.
There are traps in reading a published figure, too. Programmes taught in different languages may be priced separately, so the amount shown for one version of a programme may not belong to the version you would take. An amount may cover a year of study or a shorter period, so check the unit before you multiply anything. Check as well what the figure includes, what sits beside it as a separate charge, and when each falls due. The questions worth asking before paying anything are worth putting while there is still time to act on the answers.
For the amounts themselves, use the institution's own fee pages for the programme and the intake you are applying to, and for the relevant year, then confirm anything ambiguous with the office that publishes them. Ask for that confirmation in writing and keep it. Treat any figure you have found elsewhere, this site included, as a prompt to go and check rather than as an answer in itself.
Admissions
The institution’s own general admissions page. A particular programme may set requirements of its own, which this does not cover.
- Official admissions page

- Application portal
- Not located. Apply through the admissions page above.
- Language requirements
- Not located. U4S records no language-test threshold for any programme, anywhere.
- Required documents
- admissions.hse.ru/en/undergraduate-apply/basteps
- Intake and deadlines
- Not reviewed. U4S publishes no deadline without the intake it belongs to, and has not read this page’s dates.
Entry requirements change between intakes and differ by programme, by the qualification you hold and by where you are applying from. U4S records where the official requirements are published and when that page was last retrieved — nothing more. Students should verify current requirements on the official admissions page before relying on anything.
Next verification step
Open the official admissions page and record, only where it states them explicitly: the intake it applies to, the deadlines with their years, and the applicant categories it covers. U4S records no grade, test score or acceptance rate at any point.

What the institution asks for
Read from the institution’s own admissions pages, in the institution’s own words and units. U4S does not decide whether anyone meets any of it.
U4S never converts between grading systems or between language tests. A GPA is not a percentage, a UK classification is not a German Note, and an IELTS band is not a TOEFL score — institutions decide what they accept, and only the institution’s own published threshold governs an application. Everything below is recorded in the units the institution itself used.

Requirements marked as institution-wide were read from a page that covers more than this programme. They are what the institution publishes for applicants generally, and the programme’s own requirements may differ.
Everything above is a partial reading of one page. The official admissions page is the only complete statement of what this institution asks for: http://admissions.hse.ru/en
Housing
Source locatedThis is about housing the institution itself runs. It says nothing about private rentals near the campus, which are a different market with different contracts, different prices and different consequences if something goes wrong.
- Official accommodation page
- www.hse.ru/en/sho/
- Housing application
- Not located. Apply through the accommodation page above.
- Does the institution manage housing itself?
- Not reviewed. Locating an accommodation page does not establish this — some such pages exist mainly to explain that the institution does not.
- Is housing guaranteed?
- Not reviewed. U4S states no guarantee unless the institution has stated one in writing, because a student would plan a move around it.
- Residence types
- Not reviewed.
- Application period
- Not reviewed. U4S publishes no housing deadline without the year it belongs to.
- Cost
- Not reviewed. U4S publishes no rent figure without a currency, a period, a cycle and what it covers.
- Deposit
- Not reviewed. A deposit is not rent, and U4S records one only where the institution states it separately.
- Private renting
- U4S has not recorded whether this page covers private renting. Private accommodation is not university-managed housing, and U4S lists no private landlords or agencies.
Where a line reads “not reviewed”, U4S has not retrieved an official page stating it. That is a gap in U4S — it is never a statement that an institution has no housing, offers no guarantee, or has nothing available.
Next verification step
Open the official accommodation page and record, only where it states them explicitly: whether the institution manages housing itself, whether it offers any guarantee and in what words, the residence types it names, the application period with its year, and any cost with its currency, period and what it covers.

Official student support
Offices U4S has located on this institution’s own site. That an institution has a service means its website says so. It does not mean the service has capacity, answers quickly, can help with a particular problem, or that anybody found it useful. U4S measures none of those and publishes no rating of any service.
- International Student SupportThe office that deals with applicants and students from abroad. · page retrieved and confirmed · contact form
U4S links to an institution’s own page or contact form and publishes no email address. A list of institutional addresses is a list for anybody who wants one, and a contact form routes a student’s question better than a shared inbox.
If somebody is in immediate danger, use the local emergency number rather than any service listed here. U4S has not verified a single institution’s emergency contact, and a partly-verified one is worse than none.
Programmes
U4S has not read a programme catalogue for this institution. That is a gap in U4S, not a statement about what the institution offers — check its own website for the programmes it runs.
