Next verification step
Tuition was not published for this institution. Open the institution’s own fee schedule and check which of its components is tuition rather than an admission, examination or hostel charge, and which student category each rate applies to. Publish nothing unless the page itself states the amount, the currency, the academic year or intake, the study level, the student category and the period it covers, and unless each amount can be tied to the row it belongs to.
Student life context
Student life is made partly of what an institution arranges and partly of what students arrange themselves. The arranged part is knowable in advance: how the week is timetabled, where teaching happens in relation to where students live, what facilities exist, how the year is divided, and what support services are on hand. All of it can be described by the institution's own staff, and the student services office is the natural place to ask. The rest, meaning friendships, routines and the feeling of having settled, takes its own time and cannot be promised by anybody.
That makes the questions worth asking now structural ones. How much of a week is fixed and how much is your own. Whether the calendar has long breaks when a campus empties. How students usually get between accommodation and teaching. What clubs and societies exist and how a newcomer joins them. Ask, and ask again once you arrive, since the answers change with the programme and with the year. Our general reading on finding your people somewhere new deals with the part no institution can arrange for you.
Housing considerations
Accommodation deserves attention early, ideally at the same time as the application rather than after a decision arrives. Establish what the institution itself provides or arranges, which students that provision is open to, how it is applied for, and how its timing relates to the admissions calendar. Ask the accommodation or student services office directly, and ask what happens if provision runs out or if your circumstances change. Our general reading on what living in institution-arranged accommodation is like covers the everyday side of sharing space, which is worth thinking about before you choose.
If any part of your accommodation would be arranged privately, treat it as you would any agreement signed at a distance. Establish the period it covers, what is included and what is billed separately, what is payable in advance and on what basis, and who is responsible when something breaks. Ask for everything in writing, and be unhurried about paying for a place nobody has seen on your behalf. An institution can describe its own provision; for anything beyond that, ask students who are already there.
It is also worth thinking about the distance between where you would live and where you would study, and what a normal journey between them looks like at the times you would actually make it. That, along with the cost of living around the institution, shapes a budget in ways people do not always plan for. Neither of those is something this page can settle for you, and both are reasonable things to raise with the accommodation office and with current students before you decide anything.
International student considerations
For an applicant arriving from abroad, the work divides neatly into categories, and keeping them separate prevents a great deal of confusion. Academic recognition of what you have already studied. Language, for the programme and for daily administration. Permission to enter and to remain, which is a matter for the relevant official authority. Health cover, money matters and whatever registration follows getting there. And the arrival itself, including dates and what the institution expects of you in the days after you land.
Each of those has an owner. The international student office at Indian Institute of Technology Bombay holds the institutional ones and can usually tell you where the others belong. The official authority that issues a given document is the only source worth working from on that document, and informal answers should be checked against it. Nothing on this page should be read as a statement about what any authority asks for or decides.
There is also the quieter category of academic adjustment: how teaching is delivered, how you are assessed, how much independent work is assumed, and how students are expected to approach staff with questions. Conventions of that sort vary between institutions everywhere, and asking about them is not a sign of being unprepared. Our guide to settling into a different way of teaching and assessment treats it as an ordinary practical matter, which is what it is.
Admissions
There are no requirements, deadlines, entrance tests or admission statistics on this page, by design. Admissions arrangements are the institution's to set and to change, they differ between programmes and levels, and a version stored anywhere else is a version that can go stale unnoticed. The admissions pages of the institution's own site are the source, read for your specific programme and your specific intake.
A practical way to use those pages is to arrive with your own list: what a programme expects an applicant to bring, how evidence should be presented, how and where an application is made, what happens afterwards, and whom to ask about anything unusual in your situation. Where a page is ambiguous, ask the admissions office and keep the answer. Our note on how these pages are put together and what they leave out explains why the detail lives with the institution rather than here.
Tuition and fees
This page states no fee. Published amounts move between intakes, they differ by programme and by the category a student is placed in, and a number lifted from elsewhere is the kind of detail that fails precisely when somebody is relying on it. What belongs here instead is where to look, and what to ask once you are looking.
When you reach the institution's fee pages, read the schedule rather than the headline. A schedule may present several components together, and which of them is tuition rather than an admission, examination or hostel charge has to be worked out from the schedule itself. Establish which lines recur each year, which apply only at entry, and what falls outside the schedule altogether. Our list of questions to put before any money changes hands is general; the figures belong to the institution's published pages for the relevant year.
Admissions
The institution’s own general admissions page. A particular programme may set requirements of its own, which this does not cover.
- Official admissions page
- acad.iitb.ac.in/
- Application portal
- Not located. Apply through the admissions page above.
- Language requirements
- Not located. U4S records no language-test threshold for any programme, anywhere.
- Required documents
- Not located.
- Intake and deadlines
- Not reviewed. U4S publishes no deadline without the intake it belongs to, and has not read this page’s dates.
Entry requirements change between intakes and differ by programme, by the qualification you hold and by where you are applying from. U4S records where the official requirements are published and when that page was last retrieved — nothing more. Students should verify current requirements on the official admissions page before relying on anything.
Next verification step
Open the official admissions page and record, only where it states them explicitly: the intake it applies to, the deadlines with their years, and the applicant categories it covers. U4S records no grade, test score or acceptance rate at any point.

Housing
U4S has not located an official accommodation page for Indian Institute of Technology Bombay. That is a gap in U4S — it is not a statement that the institution has no housing, and it should not be read as one.
This is about housing the institution itself runs. It says nothing about private rentals near the campus, which are a different market with different contracts, different prices and different consequences if something goes wrong.
Programmes
U4S has not read a programme catalogue for this institution. That is a gap in U4S, not a statement about what the institution offers — check its own website for the programmes it runs.
