Polytechnic University of Milan
This page is an orientation aid for people considering the Polytechnic University of Milan, not a description of it. It lists what a prospective student should establish and points each question at the office that can answer it.

Next verification step
Tuition was not published for this institution. Open the institution’s own fee pages and check whether a single amount is stated or a contribution assessed on household circumstances, and whether regional charges and duties are listed separately from tuition. Publish nothing unless the page itself states the amount, the currency, the academic year, the study level, the student category and the period it covers.
Student life context
What student life feels like day to day comes down to a handful of unglamorous variables: where teaching takes place, how a week is timetabled, how much of the workload is independent, and how far you travel between the places you need to be. Students at the same institution often describe completely different experiences, because those variables landed differently for each of them. Ask the student services office how the pattern usually works for the programme you are considering, and ask current students the same question separately.
Beyond timetables, student life includes everything a university puts around teaching: representation, societies, sport, counselling, disability support and whatever exists for people who feel stuck. What matters is not whether these appear in a list but how a student actually reaches them, how long that takes and whether anything is limited to particular groups. Put those questions to student services directly, and read our general orientation on life as a student away from home for the questions that apply wherever you end up.
Housing considerations
Start with a plain factual question and get it answered before anything else: does this university operate accommodation of its own, does it allocate places through a separate body, or does it expect students to arrange housing entirely on the private market? Each of those implies a different timeline and a different set of deadlines. The accommodation office can tell you which applies, whether a housing application is separate from your admission and what happens if they do not line up.
If any of your search happens on the private market, the questions become contractual rather than academic: what you are signing, how long it binds you, what a deposit covers and how it is returned, what is included in the payment and what is billed separately, and what the process is if something breaks or a housemate leaves. None of that is unique to studying abroad, but it is harder to judge from a distance. Our housing orientation sets out the checks worth making before money moves.
The reason to start early is simply that housing has less slack in it than most other parts of the move. Availability moves in cycles that do not wait for admission decisions, viewings are difficult to arrange remotely, and the options left at short notice are the ones you would least want to rely on. Decide in advance what you would do if nothing were settled by the time you travel, and see how to run a housing search from another country for a workable order of operations.
International student considerations
Arriving from another country adds categories to sort through, and they are worth separating because different people answer them. Academic recognition of the qualification you already hold, the language a given programme is taught in, and the language the university's own administration works in are questions for the university. Nothing about entry, residence, registration, health cover, work or tax is, and you should be suspicious of any page that suggests otherwise.
For that second group, the relevant official authority is the only source that can state what applies to someone in your circumstances, and it can revise what it asks for without telling anyone who wrote a guide about it. The international student office is still worth contacting first, because it can usually tell you which steps it supports, which documents it issues and which parts you have to handle yourself with the authority directly. Ask it to be explicit about where that boundary sits.
Then there is the ordinary logistics of landing: what has to be done in person, in what order, and what proof anyone will ask you for. Ask which fee category the university places you in and how that determination is made, since it is decided rather than chosen. And allow room for the fact that everything takes longer when it is unfamiliar, which is the practical point behind preparing properly before you travel.
Admissions
There are no requirements listed on this page and no dates. Requirements attach to a specific programme at a specific level for a specific intake, and they are revised by the university on its own schedule; anything reproduced elsewhere is a snapshot that has already started to age. The route worth taking is the direct one: find the programme, find the page the university publishes about it, and work from that rather than from anyone's summary.
Where that page is unclear, write to the admissions office and keep the answer, because a reply in writing is the only version you can rely on later. Ask how applications are submitted and where, how you will be told the outcome, what happens if a document is delayed and who to contact if the process stalls. If a third party tells you something the university has not said, the university's statement is the one that governs.
Tuition and fees
No fee figure appears here, on purpose. Amounts differ by programme, by level and by the category a student is placed in, and they are revised on the university's own schedule, so any number reproduced by a site like this one is a guess with a timestamp on it. The caution worth carrying into your search is that the amount may be assessed on a household's circumstances rather than fixed, so a single published number may not exist at all.
If that turns out to be the case, expect the question to be less about a price and more about what you would be asked to demonstrate, and by when. Ask the university what is assessed, what evidence is involved and what happens if your circumstances change mid-study, and treat checking a fee at its source as a step you do not skip. The figures themselves belong on the university's own fee pages for the year you would start, so begin and end there.
Admissions
The institution’s own general admissions page. A particular programme may set requirements of its own, which this does not cover.

- Language requirements

- Required documents
- Not located.
- Intake and deadlines
- Not reviewed. U4S publishes no deadline without the intake it belongs to, and has not read this page’s dates.
Entry requirements change between intakes and differ by programme, by the qualification you hold and by where you are applying from. U4S records where the official requirements are published and when that page was last retrieved — nothing more. Students should verify current requirements on the official admissions page before relying on anything.
Next verification step
Open the official admissions page and record, only where it states them explicitly: the intake it applies to, the deadlines with their years, and the applicant categories it covers. U4S records no grade, test score or acceptance rate at any point.

Housing
Source locatedThis is about housing the institution itself runs. It says nothing about private rentals near the campus, which are a different market with different contracts, different prices and different consequences if something goes wrong.
- Official accommodation page
- www.polimi.it/en/campus-e-servizi/student-accommodation
- Housing application
- Not located. Apply through the accommodation page above.
- Does the institution manage housing itself?
- Not reviewed. Locating an accommodation page does not establish this — some such pages exist mainly to explain that the institution does not.
- Is housing guaranteed?
- Not reviewed. U4S states no guarantee unless the institution has stated one in writing, because a student would plan a move around it.
- Residence types
- Studio, Halls of residence
- Application period
- Not reviewed. U4S publishes no housing deadline without the year it belongs to.
- Cost
- Not reviewed. U4S publishes no rent figure without a currency, a period, a cycle and what it covers.
- Deposit
- Not reviewed. A deposit is not rent, and U4S records one only where the institution states it separately.
- Private renting
- U4S has not recorded whether this page covers private renting. Private accommodation is not university-managed housing, and U4S lists no private landlords or agencies.
Where a line reads “not reviewed”, U4S has not retrieved an official page stating it. That is a gap in U4S — it is never a statement that an institution has no housing, offers no guarantee, or has nothing available.
Next verification step
Confirm on the official accommodation page that what is recorded here still reads the same way, and record the application period with its year when the institution publishes it.

Official student support
Offices U4S has located on this institution’s own site. That an institution has a service means its website says so. It does not mean the service has capacity, answers quickly, can help with a particular problem, or that anybody found it useful. U4S measures none of those and publishes no rating of any service.
- International relationsThe office that deals with applicants and students from abroad. · page located, not fully confirmed
U4S links to an institution’s own page or contact form and publishes no email address. A list of institutional addresses is a list for anybody who wants one, and a contact form routes a student’s question better than a shared inbox.
If somebody is in immediate danger, use the local emergency number rather than any service listed here. U4S has not verified a single institution’s emergency contact, and a partly-verified one is worse than none.
Programmes
Read from this institution’s own catalogue. Each title is reproduced exactly as the institution wrote it, and each programme page records the source it came from. This is not necessarily every programme the institution runs: it is what the catalogue U4S retrieved actually listed.
