Next verification step

Tuition was not published for this institution. Open the institution’s own fee pages and check whether a single amount is stated or a contribution assessed on household circumstances, and whether regional charges and duties are listed separately from tuition. Publish nothing unless the page itself states the amount, the currency, the academic year, the study level, the student category and the period it covers.

Student life context

Everyone arrives with a picture of what student life will be, and the picture is usually assembled from other people's experiences at other institutions. The things that actually shape a week are duller and far more useful to ask about: when and how teaching is scheduled, how much unsupervised study a programme expects, how assessment is spread through the term, how much travelling an ordinary day involves, and what exists outside teaching for someone who wants to join something.

All of that is answerable, but only by the university. The student services and student support offices can describe what runs during term and between terms, what the institution organises and what students organise for themselves. Where you live shapes the day more than most people expect, and so does the city around a university; our notes on what to establish about a student city set out those questions without answering them for any particular place.

Confirm the language question early as well: which language your teaching and assessment use, and which language you will be dealing with in administrative matters, since more than one official language may be in use where you study and the answers need not be the same. The international office and the office running your programme can between them say what applies to you.

Housing considerations

Accommodation is the arrangement most likely to go wrong, for the simple reason that it is often made from a distance, quickly, and last. Establish what the university itself operates, what it merely lists or recommends, and what you would be finding on the open market, and ask the accommodation office which of those is realistically available to someone in your position rather than assuming an answer.

Then read any agreement as a contract rather than a formality: how long it runs, what notice applies, what the rent covers, what is billed separately, how a deposit is held and returned, and what happens if your arrival date moves. Doing this early is what makes it possible at all, since the same academic calendar sends everyone looking in the same weeks, and a rushed decision taken after arrival is rarely the one you would have made with time in hand. Searching for a room from another country describes the general method for judging a place you cannot visit.

International student considerations

Arriving from another country means running a parallel process alongside the academic one. Entry and residence formalities are decided by official authorities on the basis of your own circumstances; no page written by anyone else can tell you what applies, and the international office is the right place to ask which authority you need and what the university does on its side.

Sort the rest into categories and keep them separate: recognition of the qualifications you hold; health cover arrangements; documents that may need issuing, translating or certifying before you travel; banking and local registration after you arrive; whether working during study is open to you, which is a matter for an authority rather than for an institution; and the language your studies and your paperwork will be conducted in. Each has an owner, and an answer from the wrong source is worse than no answer.

The part nobody plans for is the adjustment itself: unfamiliar teaching conventions, unfamiliar procedures, and a stretch of time in which ordinary tasks take longer than they used to. That is normal and it passes. What settling into an unfamiliar place usually involves describes the general pattern, and the international office can say what support the university offers while it is going on.

Admissions

This page states no requirement, no deadline and no criterion, and it is worth saying why rather than leaving it as a gap. Admission rules are specific to a programme, a level and an intake, and they belong to the institution, which revises them as it chooses. A third party repeating them adds nothing and risks a great deal, because the reader has no way of telling how old the copy is.

What to do instead: open the university's own admissions section, find the exact programme and level, read what is published there, then ask the admissions office in writing about anything that is not clear, describing your own background rather than a general case. If you want to know how this page was assembled and what was checked before it went up, our sources and method explains what is verified and, just as importantly, what is deliberately not reproduced.

Tuition and fees

You will not find an amount here. Fees are revised, they differ by programme, and they can differ between applicants; publishing a figure on a page like this one would give it a permanence it does not have and a precision it never had. The institution's own published fees are the only version with any standing behind them.

It is also possible that no single figure exists to publish. An amount may be assessed on a household's circumstances rather than set as a flat charge, in which case what appears publicly may be a band or a ceiling rather than the sum you would be asked for. Whether that applies is a question for the university and for any official body involved in the assessment, as are the evidence it considers, who carries it out and what timing it follows.

For that reason, look at fees and at support together rather than in sequence. How student support is usually organised describes the general categories, while which of them you fall into, if any, is a matter for the institution to determine. Which fee category an institution places you in is likewise its decision and not something to infer; how fee categories are drawn explains the shape of that question. Take the amounts themselves from the university's own fee pages for the relevant year.

Admissions

Institution-wide admissions pageSource located

The institution’s own general admissions page. A particular programme may set requirements of its own, which this does not cover.

Application portal
Not located. Apply through the admissions page above.
Language requirements
Not located. U4S records no language-test threshold for any programme, anywhere.
Required documents
Not located.
Intake and deadlines
Not reviewed. U4S publishes no deadline without the intake it belongs to, and has not read this page’s dates.

Entry requirements change between intakes and differ by programme, by the qualification you hold and by where you are applying from. U4S records where the official requirements are published and when that page was last retrieved — nothing more. Students should verify current requirements on the official admissions page before relying on anything.

Next verification step

Open the official admissions page and record, only where it states them explicitly: the intake it applies to, the deadlines with their years, and the applicant categories it covers. U4S records no grade, test score or acceptance rate at any point.

What the institution asks for

Read from the institution’s own admissions pages, in the institution’s own words and units. U4S does not decide whether anyone meets any of it.

U4S never converts between grading systems or between language tests. A GPA is not a percentage, a UK classification is not a German Note, and an IELTS band is not a TOEFL score — institutions decide what they accept, and only the institution’s own published threshold governs an application. Everything below is recorded in the units the institution itself used.

Prior qualification

A qualification the institution says applicants must already hold.

  • Institution-wideNamed without a value
Admission to a PhD programme requires a second-cycle degree (Master’s degree, specialist degree, single-cycle degree, or equivalent qualification under the previous university system).

Requirements marked as institution-wide were read from a page that covers more than this programme. They are what the institution publishes for applicants generally, and the programme’s own requirements may differ.

Everything above is a partial reading of one page. The official admissions page is the only complete statement of what this institution asks for: https://www.uniroma1.it/en/pagina/admissions-2026-2027-phd-programmes

Housing

U4S has not located an official accommodation page for Sapienza University of Rome. That is a gap in U4S — it is not a statement that the institution has no housing, and it should not be read as one.

This is about housing the institution itself runs. It says nothing about private rentals near the campus, which are a different market with different contracts, different prices and different consequences if something goes wrong.

Official student support

Offices U4S has located on this institution’s own site. That an institution has a service means its website says so. It does not mean the service has capacity, answers quickly, can help with a particular problem, or that anybody found it useful. U4S measures none of those and publishes no rating of any service.

U4S links to an institution’s own page or contact form and publishes no email address. A list of institutional addresses is a list for anybody who wants one, and a contact form routes a student’s question better than a shared inbox.

If somebody is in immediate danger, use the local emergency number rather than any service listed here. U4S has not verified a single institution’s emergency contact, and a partly-verified one is worse than none.

Programmes

U4S has not read a programme catalogue for this institution. That is a gap in U4S, not a statement about what the institution offers — check its own website for the programmes it runs.
