This page exists to help a prospective student or a parent work out what to ask and who to ask it of. It is orientation rather than description, and it does not stand in for the institution's own information.

Next verification step

Tuition was not published for this institution. Open the institution’s own fee pages and check which student category the amount applies to, whether it covers a year or a semester, and whether accommodation and insurance charges are listed apart from tuition. Publish nothing unless the page itself states the amount, the currency, the academic year or intake, the study level, the student category and the period it covers, and unless each amount can be tied to the row it belongs to.

Student life context

There is no single student experience at any institution, and the version a given student gets is assembled from small structural facts: the shape of the teaching week on their programme, where they end up living, how long it takes to move between the places they have to be, and whether the opening weeks produce a few people worth keeping in touch with. None of that is visible from outside, which is why questions are more useful on a page like this than description would be.

Start with how the academic year is organised and how much of the week teaching occupies, because that governs most of the rest. Then ask how students meet each other: whether organisations recruit throughout the year or only at the start, whether anything is arranged for new entrants, and what exists for someone who arrives without contacts. Put those to student services, then put them again inside the department, because the view from the centre and the view from a programme rarely match exactly.

The settling-in period is its own thing, and is better expected than discovered. Building a circle in an unfamiliar place is mostly a matter of repetition and low-stakes contact rather than of effort or personality, and the way that usually works is easier to manage once it has been described in advance. Ask the institution what it runs in the opening weeks, and treat the answer as a schedule rather than as a promise about how any of it will feel.

Housing considerations

The opening question about accommodation is simply what the institution operates and who may apply for it: whether there are residences, how eligibility is decided, how allocation works and in what sequence, and what the position is for an applicant coming from another country. That belongs to the accommodation office and to nobody else, and its answer is the one to act on. The housing section covers the general considerations rather than the arrangements here.

The second question is what to do if institutional accommodation is not offered, and the reason to ask it early is unglamorous: choices are taken in the order applications arrive, so the range narrows as term approaches whether or not anyone has decided anything. Renting privately at a distance also removes the checks that ordinary renting supplies for free, which makes it worth establishing local convention on contracts, deposits, guarantors and what a rent includes before committing to anything. Ask the accommodation office what it advises for someone who cannot view a place in person.

International student considerations

An applicant arriving from another country is dealing with several separate processes that are easy to mistake for one. There is how prior study is assessed. There is which language a programme is taught in and what evidence of it the institution asks for, which is a different question from which language everyday administration runs in. There is entry and residence status, which belongs to the relevant official authority and not to any university. There is health cover, and there are the registrations and documents that follow arrival. Each has an owner, and the owner is the only source worth relying on for it.

The international student office is where to find out which of those apply to you and in roughly what order they are usually dealt with, and it is also where to ask what support exists before and immediately after arrival, since that is where a difficult first month is generally prevented. The wider picture of studying in another country gives useful background for that conversation. Nothing on this page substitutes for what the office or the authority tells you, and anything second-hand deserves checking against both.

Admissions

This page does not tell you what it takes to be admitted, because the answer is specific to a programme and a level of study, and it depends on which qualifications you hold and where you hold them from. Any page that generalised across all of that would be wrong for most of the people reading it, and confidently wrong, which is worse than saying nothing.

Work from the programme outwards instead. Find the programme, read the admissions information attached to that programme rather than a general summary, note the order of the steps and what each one asks for, and put anything unresolved to the admissions office in writing. Keep the reply, with the date it was given. Where a published page and a second-hand account disagree, the published page wins, and where the published page is silent, the office is the only way through.

It is worth preparing for the difference in academic convention at the same time, since how teaching and assessment are organised varies between countries as much as entry routes do, and it tends to affect the first term more than applicants expect. What adapting to a different academic culture involves belongs to the same piece of preparation as the application itself.

Tuition and fees

There is no price on this page. Fee information is revised on the institution's own schedule, differs by programme and by level, and differs according to the category an applicant is placed in, so a figure repeated at second hand is a snapshot with no authority and an unknown expiry. Telling you where to look and what to ask is more useful than handing you an amount you would have to verify anyway. How tuition is usually structured explains the vocabulary in general terms.

Two things are worth checking rather than assuming once you reach the official pages. A page may carry several amounts, each attached to a different student category, so establishing which category the institution places you in comes before any figure means anything at all. And charges for accommodation or for insurance may sit on the same page as tuition without being tuition, so each line is worth reading for what it actually covers, with the office asked to confirm anything ambiguous. Both are possibilities to check, not statements about how anything works. The amounts belong on the institution's own fee pages for the year in which you would start.

Language requirements
Not located. U4S records no language-test threshold for any programme, anywhere.
Required documents

Intake and deadlines
Not reviewed. U4S publishes no deadline without the intake it belongs to, and has not read this page’s dates.

Entry requirements change between intakes and differ by programme, by the qualification you hold and by where you are applying from. U4S records where the official requirements are published and when that page was last retrieved — nothing more. Students should verify current requirements on the official admissions page before relying on anything.

Next verification step

Open the official admissions page and record, only where it states them explicitly: the intake it applies to, the deadlines with their years, and the applicant categories it covers. U4S records no grade, test score or acceptance rate at any point.

What the institution asks for

Read from the institution’s own admissions pages, in the institution’s own words and units. U4S does not decide whether anyone meets any of it.

U4S never converts between grading systems or between language tests. A GPA is not a percentage, a UK classification is not a German Note, and an IELTS band is not a TOEFL score — institutions decide what they accept, and only the institution’s own published threshold governs an application. Everything below is recorded in the units the institution itself used.

Interview

A stage the institution says forms part of selection.

  • Institution-wideNamed without a value
The college entrance examination achievement accounts for 60%, SUSTech, autonomous ability test scores account for 30% (interview scores accounts for 5%) and the high school proficiency test accounts for the final 10%, ranking from high to low based on candidate's "631" comprehensive score.

Requirements marked as institution-wide were read from a page that covers more than this programme. They are what the institution publishes for applicants generally, and the programme’s own requirements may differ.

Everything above is a partial reading of one page. The official admissions page is the only complete statement of what this institution asks for: https://www.sustech.edu.cn/en/admissions.html

Housing

This is about housing the institution itself runs. It says nothing about private rentals near the campus, which are a different market with different contracts, different prices and different consequences if something goes wrong.

Housing application

Does the institution manage housing itself?
Not reviewed. Locating an accommodation page does not establish this — some such pages exist mainly to explain that the institution does not.
Is housing guaranteed?
Not reviewed. U4S states no guarantee unless the institution has stated one in writing, because a student would plan a move around it.
Residence types
Not reviewed.
Application period
Not reviewed. U4S publishes no housing deadline without the year it belongs to.
Cost
Not reviewed. U4S publishes no rent figure without a currency, a period, a cycle and what it covers.
Deposit
Not reviewed. A deposit is not rent, and U4S records one only where the institution states it separately.
Private renting
U4S has not recorded whether this page covers private renting. Private accommodation is not university-managed housing, and U4S lists no private landlords or agencies.

Where a line reads “not reviewed”, U4S has not retrieved an official page stating it. That is a gap in U4S — it is never a statement that an institution has no housing, offers no guarantee, or has nothing available.

Next verification step

Open the official accommodation page and record, only where it states them explicitly: whether the institution manages housing itself, whether it offers any guarantee and in what words, the residence types it names, the application period with its year, and any cost with its currency, period and what it covers.

Official student support

Offices U4S has located on this institution’s own site. That an institution has a service means its website says so. It does not mean the service has capacity, answers quickly, can help with a particular problem, or that anybody found it useful. U4S measures none of those and publishes no rating of any service.

  • Go GlobalThe office that deals with applicants and students from abroad. · page retrieved and confirmed · contact form

U4S links to an institution’s own page or contact form and publishes no email address. A list of institutional addresses is a list for anybody who wants one, and a contact form routes a student’s question better than a shared inbox.

If somebody is in immediate danger, use the local emergency number rather than any service listed here. U4S has not verified a single institution’s emergency contact, and a partly-verified one is worse than none.

Programmes

U4S has not read a programme catalogue for this institution. That is a gap in U4S, not a statement about what the institution offers — check its own website for the programmes it runs.
