Stockholm University
A page for the preparation stage: what to establish about studying here, and who holds each answer. It is not a description of the institution, and it is not written on the institution's behalf.

What U4S has verified
OrientationThe official website was retrieved and the page confirmed the institution. Everything else on this page is orientation unless marked otherwise below.
- Tuition and fees
- No figure is published on this page.
- Admissions
- U4S publishes no entry requirement, deadline or grade for any institution.
- Scholarships and support
- U4S names no funding scheme and states no eligibility.
Next verification step
Tuition was not published for this institution. Open the institution’s own fee pages and check whether the page states which student categories are charged at all, and whether an application charge is listed separately from tuition. Publish nothing unless the page itself states the amount, the currency, the academic year, the study level, the student category and the period it covers.
Student life context
Before asking what an institution is like, it helps to ask what your own week would consist of. The number of contact hours, how much of the work is done alone, how your subject organises the people studying it, the journey between where you live and where you are taught, and the way the year is divided between teaching and assessment all matter more day to day than anything that can be said about a university in general.
Those answers come from the student services office and from the department running your programme, not from any summary. Ask how student organisations, sport and volunteering are arranged, which of them belong to the institution and which run independently, and how somebody joins in the early part of the year without a ready-made group. What student life usually involves gives you the standard version of those arrangements to compare against.
Housing considerations
Accommodation is the one thing worth arranging before anything else, because every other part of a move gets harder while it is unsettled. Establish whether the institution provides housing, whether it works with separate organisations that do, or whether it mainly signposts the private market. Then ask how places are allocated, in what order, whether your place on a programme has to be confirmed first, and what a room includes once you have one.
If you end up in the private market, the questions become contractual rather than institutional: who the agreement binds, what has to be provided before it takes effect, how a deposit is looked after and on what basis it comes back, which charges fall outside the rent, and whether any of it can be settled remotely. Finding housing from abroad goes through that process in general terms, and the accommodation office can tell you which parts of it apply here.
Whatever the route, the reason to begin early is the same everywhere: what is still available narrows while the process runs, so a late start usually shows up later as a longer daily journey rather than as nowhere to live at all. Ask the accommodation office when its own process opens, and treat that date, rather than the start of teaching, as the point by which to be organised.
International student considerations
For an applicant arriving from another country, the work divides into categories that are worth keeping apart. The assessment of the qualifications you already hold. The language your programme is taught in and the evidence of it the institution asks for. The language the administration around your studies is conducted in, which is a separate matter worth asking about directly. Permission to enter and remain, which only the relevant official authority can speak to. Health cover. And the registration and everyday administration that follow any arrival.
For anything academic and anything to do with enrolment, the institution's international office is the place to ask. For entry and residence, the relevant official authority is the only body whose position carries weight, and nothing published elsewhere alters it. This page is deliberately not a source for either, and neither is a summary written by anyone unconnected to those offices. The study-abroad section describes the shape of the process rather than the rules of any country.
Ask in writing and keep what comes back, describing your own position rather than a simplified version of it, since a simplified question tends to attract an answer that does not quite apply to you. Beyond the administration there is the ordinary business of settling somewhere unfamiliar, which often takes longer than people expect and is a normal part of the process rather than a sign that something has gone wrong. Adjusting to an unfamiliar place covers that side of an arrival.
Admissions
How to find what applies to you: start from your programme, your level of study and the category of applicant the institution places you in, and treat everything published for other routes as irrelevant. The same institution can operate several admission processes at once, and material written for one of them can be actively misleading if you are on another.
Once you have identified your route, use the institution's own admissions pages and its admissions office, and check the live page rather than a copy of it, because these pages are revised on the institution's own schedule. Ask in writing where wording is ambiguous, keep what you are sent, and ask as well about what happens after a submission: how you will be told, what the wording of an outcome means in practice, and who to contact if your circumstances do not fit the usual pattern.
Tuition and fees
There is no fee figure on this page. U4S publishes an amount only when it has been read from the institution's own fee pages and recorded alongside who it applies to, what level it covers and which academic year it belongs to; where that has not been done, the page says nothing rather than offering a number to fill the space. An unverified figure looks identical to a verified one once published, and the reader who suffers for that is the one making plans.
The first thing to settle is not an amount but a category, because whether any tuition is charged may follow from the category an applicant is placed in rather than being the same for everybody. The second is to ask what each charge in the process is for: anything payable in order to submit an application is a different item from tuition, and the two should not be added together or mistaken for one another. How student funding is usually described is worth reading alongside, since support and fees are usually published separately and are often handled by different offices.
For the position that actually applies to you, go to the institution's own fee pages, work out which part of them is written for your level and your category, note which academic year the page covers, and confirm what you find with the office that maintains it. Checking an official fee page describes how to read one and what to ask when a field you need is missing.
Admissions
The institution’s own general admissions page. A particular programme may set requirements of its own, which this does not cover.

- Application portal
- Not located. Apply through the admissions page above.
- Language requirements
- www.su.se/english/education/how-to-apply/entry-requirements/english-requirement
- Required documents
- Not located.
- Intake and deadlines
- Not reviewed. U4S publishes no deadline without the intake it belongs to, and has not read this page’s dates.
Entry requirements change between intakes and differ by programme, by the qualification you hold and by where you are applying from. U4S records where the official requirements are published and when that page was last retrieved — nothing more. Students should verify current requirements on the official admissions page before relying on anything.
Next verification step
Open the official admissions page and record, only where it states them explicitly: the intake it applies to, the deadlines with their years, and the applicant categories it covers. U4S records no grade, test score or acceptance rate at any point.

What the institution asks for
Read from the institution’s own admissions pages, in the institution’s own words and units. U4S does not decide whether anyone meets any of it.
U4S never converts between grading systems or between language tests. A GPA is not a percentage, a UK classification is not a German Note, and an IELTS band is not a TOEFL score — institutions decide what they accept, and only the institution’s own published threshold governs an application. Everything below is recorded in the units the institution itself used.

Requirements marked as institution-wide were read from a page that covers more than this programme. They are what the institution publishes for applicants generally, and the programme’s own requirements may differ.
Everything above is a partial reading of one page. The official admissions page is the only complete statement of what this institution asks for: https://www.su.se/english/education/how-to-apply/a-step-by-step-guide
Housing
Source locatedThis is about housing the institution itself runs. It says nothing about private rentals near the campus, which are a different market with different contracts, different prices and different consequences if something goes wrong.
- Official accommodation page
- www.su.se/english/education/student-life/housing-for-international-students
- Housing application
- Not located. Apply through the accommodation page above.
- Does the institution manage housing itself?
- Not reviewed. Locating an accommodation page does not establish this — some such pages exist mainly to explain that the institution does not.
- Is housing guaranteed?
- Not reviewed. U4S states no guarantee unless the institution has stated one in writing, because a student would plan a move around it.
- Residence types
- Studio
- Application period
- Not reviewed. U4S publishes no housing deadline without the year it belongs to.
- Cost
- Not reviewed. U4S publishes no rent figure without a currency, a period, a cycle and what it covers.
- Deposit
- Not reviewed. A deposit is not rent, and U4S records one only where the institution states it separately.
- Private renting
- U4S has not recorded whether this page covers private renting. Private accommodation is not university-managed housing, and U4S lists no private landlords or agencies.
Where a line reads “not reviewed”, U4S has not retrieved an official page stating it. That is a gap in U4S — it is never a statement that an institution has no housing, offers no guarantee, or has nothing available.
Next verification step
Confirm on the official accommodation page that what is recorded here still reads the same way, and record the application period with its year when the institution publishes it.

Programmes
U4S has not read a programme catalogue for this institution. That is a gap in U4S, not a statement about what the institution offers — check its own website for the programmes it runs.
