What U4S has verified
OrientationThe official website was retrieved and the page confirmed the institution. Everything else on this page is orientation unless marked otherwise below.
- Tuition and fees
- No figure is published on this page.
- Admissions
- U4S publishes no entry requirement, deadline or grade for any institution.
- Scholarships and support
- U4S names no funding scheme and states no eligibility.
Next verification step
Tuition was not published for this institution. Open the institution’s own fee pages and check whether the page states which student categories are charged at all, and whether an application charge is listed separately from tuition. Publish nothing unless the page itself states the amount, the currency, the academic year, the study level, the student category and the period it covers.
Student life context
The texture of student life is mostly set by things that sound administrative until you live them: the shape of the teaching week, how work is assessed, whether your programme keeps a group of you together or leaves you to assemble your own routine, and how far apart the places you need to be actually are. Those things vary from programme to programme inside any institution, which is why a general answer about the University of Gothenburg would tell you very little about your own days.
Some habits help here. Ask the student services office how a typical week is structured on the programme you are considering, and ask current students what they wish they had understood before starting, treating their answers as experience rather than as rules. Expectations about independence, about contact with teaching staff and about how much learning happens outside class vary, and not only between institutions. Adjusting to a different academic culture is largely about noticing that early instead of discovering it during an assessment.
Housing considerations
Treat accommodation as its own project with its own deadline, running alongside the application rather than after it. The questions are simple and the answers are only available from the institution: does the University of Gothenburg allocate or offer housing to students in your position; is applying for it separate from applying to study; when does it open relative to an admission decision; and what do students do when nothing is allocated to them.
Ask the accommodation or housing office, and ask about the specific intake you would join rather than relying on what was true for a previous one. General guidance on finding student accommodation describes the search itself, including what to check before committing to anything and how to recognise an arrangement that has not been verified. None of it replaces what the institution tells you about its own provision, which is the only version that binds anybody.
If you end up sharing, the awkward conversations are cheaper when they happen early: who pays what, when, and what happens if somebody leaves partway through. Handling shared costs with flatmates covers the general version of that discussion. Anything about a specific contract, deposit or notice period belongs with the landlord or provider, and the housing office can usually tell you where to take a question you cannot resolve yourself.
International student considerations
An applicant arriving from another country is dealing with categories rather than a single process: permission to enter and to remain, recognition of prior qualifications, evidence relating to language, healthcare cover, money and banking, and registration once here. Every one of them is administered by somebody with published rules, and none of those rules is reproduced on this page, because reproducing them accurately over time is not something anybody outside the institution can honestly promise.
So the pattern is always the same. Identify the body that owns the question, read what it publishes, and ask it directly when the published answer does not obviously cover your case. Entry and residence go to the relevant official authority; qualifications, language and enrolment go to the university's international student office; healthcare and banking go to whoever provides them. Start earlier than feels necessary, and see the general shape of studying in another country if you are still mapping out the steps.
Admissions
Nothing on this page tells you what it takes to be admitted, and nothing should. Admission conditions attach to a programme and an intake, they interact with the qualification you already hold and where you obtained it, and they are the institution's to set and to change. Anything else you read is somebody's summary of a moment that has probably passed already.
What to do instead is straightforward. Open the University of Gothenburg's admissions pages, narrow to the exact programme and level, and read what the institution itself publishes for the intake you want. Where an application runs through a shared service rather than directly, work out which body owns each stage before you need to chase anything. Then send the admissions office a short, specific message if something remains unclear. Other pages in our university orientation index follow exactly the same logic.
Tuition and fees
There is no fee figure on this page, by design. Tuition varies by programme and by level, it is set by the institution, and it is revised on the institution's own schedule, so any amount republished elsewhere is a copy that ages without warning anybody. We would rather be useful than precise in the wrong direction, which is what a stale number amounts to.
There are also possibilities here that need checking rather than assuming. It may be that whether you are charged tuition at all depends on the category the institution places you in, and it may be that an application charge exists which is not tuition and does not count towards it. Which of those applies to you is a matter for the university and, where relevant, for the appropriate official authority, and it cannot be settled by what somebody else was charged.
Finish on the university's own tuition and payment pages, for the programme and the year you would start, and read them for the details that are easy to skip: what the figure covers, what is charged separately, when payment falls due, and what happens if you defer or withdraw. Questions worth asking before you pay anything is a checklist for that conversation.
Admissions
The institution’s own general admissions page. A particular programme may set requirements of its own, which this does not cover.
- Official admissions page
- www.gu.se/index%2ephp/en/work-at-the-university-of-gothenburg/how-to-apply-for-a-position
- Application portal
- Not located. Apply through the admissions page above.
- Language requirements
- Not located. U4S records no language-test threshold for any programme, anywhere.
- Required documents
- Not located.
- Intake and deadlines
- Not reviewed. U4S publishes no deadline without the intake it belongs to, and has not read this page’s dates.
Entry requirements change between intakes and differ by programme, by the qualification you hold and by where you are applying from. U4S records where the official requirements are published and when that page was last retrieved — nothing more. Students should verify current requirements on the official admissions page before relying on anything.
Next verification step
Open the official admissions page and record, only where it states them explicitly: the intake it applies to, the deadlines with their years, and the applicant categories it covers. U4S records no grade, test score or acceptance rate at any point.

What the institution asks for
Read from the institution’s own admissions pages, in the institution’s own words and units. U4S does not decide whether anyone meets any of it.
U4S never converts between grading systems or between language tests. A GPA is not a percentage, a UK classification is not a German Note, and an IELTS band is not a TOEFL score — institutions decide what they accept, and only the institution’s own published threshold governs an application. Everything below is recorded in the units the institution itself used.
Interview
A stage the institution says forms part of selection.

Official page · retrieved 2026-09-13
Requirements marked as institution-wide were read from a page that covers more than this programme. They are what the institution publishes for applicants generally, and the programme’s own requirements may differ.
Everything above is a partial reading of one page. The official admissions page is the only complete statement of what this institution asks for: https://www.gu.se/index%2ephp/en/work-at-the-university-of-gothenburg/how-to-apply-for-a-position
Housing
Source locatedThis is about housing the institution itself runs. It says nothing about private rentals near the campus, which are a different market with different contracts, different prices and different consequences if something goes wrong.

- Housing application

- Does the institution manage housing itself?
- Not reviewed. Locating an accommodation page does not establish this — some such pages exist mainly to explain that the institution does not.
- Is housing guaranteed?
- Not reviewed. U4S states no guarantee unless the institution has stated one in writing, because a student would plan a move around it.
- Residence types
- Shared room or flat, Family accommodation
- Application period
- Not reviewed. U4S publishes no housing deadline without the year it belongs to.
- Cost
- Not reviewed. U4S publishes no rent figure without a currency, a period, a cycle and what it covers.
- Deposit
- Not reviewed. A deposit is not rent, and U4S records one only where the institution states it separately.
- Private renting
- This page also gives guidance about renting from private landlords. That guidance is not about accommodation the institution runs, and nothing recorded above is taken from it.
Where a line reads “not reviewed”, U4S has not retrieved an official page stating it. That is a gap in U4S — it is never a statement that an institution has no housing, offers no guarantee, or has nothing available.
Next verification step
Confirm on the official accommodation page that what is recorded here still reads the same way, and record the application period with its year when the institution publishes it.

Read from this institution’s own catalogue. Each title is reproduced exactly as the institution wrote it, and each programme page records the source it came from. This is not necessarily every programme the institution runs: it is what the catalogue U4S retrieved actually listed.
