Next verification step

Tuition was not published for this institution. Open the institution’s own fee pages and check whether a student in the category in question is charged at all, and whether rates are published per programme. Publish nothing unless the page itself states the amount, the currency, the academic year or intake, the study level, the student category and the period it covers, and unless each amount can be tied to the row it belongs to.

Student life context

Useful questions about student life are rarely about a university as a whole; they are about your week. How is teaching timetabled, and how much of the work sits outside scheduled sessions? Do students on your programme tend to live close to where they study, or travel in? What is open outside teaching hours, from study space to sport and student organisations? Is there an induction period, and what happens during it? The student services office can answer these at the level of the specific programme you are looking at, which is the level at which the answers actually differ.

The social side follows similar logic. Ask what representative body students have, how societies are organised and joined, and whether anything is run specifically for people arriving from elsewhere. Then allow it time. The pattern most students describe is the same: the timetable settles first and the people follow, and the stretch in between feels longer than it later seems. If that stretch turns difficult, there is almost always somewhere to go, and knowing where before you need it is worth the effort. Our notes on recognising when to ask for help are written for exactly that point.

Housing considerations

Housing questions worth putting in an email, well before the answers are needed. Does the university offer or allocate accommodation, and is applying for it separate from applying for your place? Who is eligible, and how are places decided? What does a place include, and what is charged separately? When do these processes open and close relative to admissions decisions? And if university housing is not available in your situation, does the institution publish a list of alternatives or run a service that helps students find somewhere? The accommodation office is the right recipient for all of it.

Arranging it early matters for a plain reason: student housing in any university town is finite, and whoever arranges late chooses from what is left. Organising it from another country calls for patience and a methodical approach. Keep every agreement in writing, be clear about what a payment covers before making it, and be careful about committing to somewhere sight unseen. Shared living brings arrangements of its own, and our guide to shared student accommodation and how it tends to work covers what is worth agreeing before anyone moves in.

International student considerations

If you are applying from another country, the extra work sorts into categories. Which fee category does the institution place someone in your position in? What formalities apply to entry and residence, and which official authority decides them? What has to be registered locally after arrival, and with whom? What arrangements for health cover apply? Are the qualifications you already hold recognised for the programme you want? What language will teaching, assessment and administration be conducted in? None of those is answered on this page.

That is not evasion. The answers depend on your circumstances and on decisions made by bodies with no connection to this site, and a confident wrong answer here would cost someone real time and money. The university's international office handles exactly these questions for its own applicants; anything to do with entry, residence or local registration belongs with the relevant official authority. Ask both, keep the replies, and note the date each was given, because that is what tells you when an answer needs checking again.

Some categories are worth pulling out because students discover them late. Language has a split in it: the language of your programme, and the language used by the offices, housing providers and services you deal with routinely, which need not match. And whether paid work alongside study is open to someone in your position is a question for the international office and the relevant official authority, never for a third-party page. Our general material on student work and what to establish about it explains why that distinction is worth respecting.

Admissions

This page states no entry requirements, no deadlines, no tests and no selection criteria, because they belong to the institution and change between intakes. The method that works is the same anywhere: go to the official admissions pages, locate the exact programme and level you intend to apply for, and read the criteria published against that programme. General institutional summaries, including summaries on sites such as this one, are a starting point for orientation and nothing more.

If something is unclear, ask instead of inferring; asking is quicker than guessing wrong and then unpicking it. Ask also whether an application from abroad should be routed through admissions or through the international office, since that split differs between institutions. And keep a record of what you were told and when, which saves repeated work later, particularly if you are looking at more than a single place at once. The wider set of orientation pages for other institutions is built on the same principle.

Tuition and fees

Nothing on this page carries a price. Tuition is set by the university, published against individual programmes, and revised between intakes, so any amount held on a third-party page is a snapshot of something that has already moved on. The only version worth acting on is the institution's own published schedule for the year in which you would actually enrol.

It may well be that whether a student is charged depends on the category they are placed in and on the form of study they choose, and that rates are commonly published per programme rather than for the institution as a whole. Check that rather than assume it, and check it for your programme and your situation. It is also worth keeping tuition and the cost of living apart while planning, since they are met differently and move independently; the distinction between fees and living costs is set out separately. The amounts themselves belong on the university's own fee pages for the relevant year.

Admissions

U4S has not located an official admissions source here. That is a gap in U4S, not a statement that there are no requirements — every institution has them, and they are on its own site.

Housing

U4S has not located an official accommodation page for University of Maribor. That is a gap in U4S — it is not a statement that the institution has no housing, and it should not be read as one.

This is about housing the institution itself runs. It says nothing about private rentals near the campus, which are a different market with different contracts, different prices and different consequences if something goes wrong.

Official student support

Offices U4S has located on this institution’s own site. That an institution has a service means its website says so. It does not mean the service has capacity, answers quickly, can help with a particular problem, or that anybody found it useful. U4S measures none of those and publishes no rating of any service.

U4S links to an institution’s own page or contact form and publishes no email address. A list of institutional addresses is a list for anybody who wants one, and a contact form routes a student’s question better than a shared inbox.

If somebody is in immediate danger, use the local emergency number rather than any service listed here. U4S has not verified a single institution’s emergency contact, and a partly-verified one is worse than none.

Programmes

U4S has not read a programme catalogue for this institution. That is a gap in U4S, not a statement about what the institution offers — check its own website for the programmes it runs.
