University of Victoria
An orientation page for prospective students and their families. It lists what to establish and who to ask, and it deliberately carries no fees, no entry criteria and no assessment of the institution.

What U4S has verified
OrientationThe official website was retrieved and the page confirmed the institution. Everything else on this page is orientation unless marked otherwise below.
- Tuition and fees
- No figure is published on this page.
- Admissions
- U4S publishes no entry requirement, deadline or grade for any institution.
- Scholarships and support
- U4S names no funding scheme and states no eligibility.
Next verification step
Tuition was not published for this institution. Open the institution’s own fee pages and check whether rates are given per programme rather than for the institution as a whole, and which student category each rate applies to. Publish nothing unless the page itself states the amount, the currency, the academic year or intake, the study level, the student category and the period it covers, and unless each amount can be tied to the row it belongs to.
Student life context
Student life is not a single thing a university has. It is the product of a timetable, a journey, a programme's teaching style and whoever happens to be around, which means it can differ sharply between two students at the same institution in the same term. That is why this page asks questions instead of describing atmosphere: the description you actually need comes from people on your own programme, and it is worth seeking out before you decide anything.
Things worth establishing: how the teaching week is arranged on your programme, how societies, sport and volunteering are run and what taking part costs, whether a students' union or association provides services separate from the university's, and what happens in the opening weeks for students who arrive without existing friends. Student services and the union or association can answer those. Ask too where counselling and wellbeing support sit and how a student reaches them, since looking after your own wellbeing is easier when the route is known in advance.
Housing considerations
Treat accommodation as an early task rather than a consequence of admission. Establish whether the university provides housing, how applications are timed and whether they depend on holding an offer, what the position is for someone applying late, and whether anything temporary exists to cover the gap between arriving and moving in. Only the accommodation office can answer for this institution, and its answer is worth having in writing.
If you rent privately, settle the mechanics before anything else: the length of the commitment, what is included, the deposit arrangements, responsibility for repairs, and how the agreement ends. Ask whether the university lists accommodation or offers advice on tenancies, and whether there is somewhere to turn when something goes wrong. Our general guidance on student housing sets out the questions; the answers belong to the institution and to whoever you would be renting from.
International student considerations
Arriving from another country means running two processes at once. The institution handles the academic side: how it treats qualifications from other systems, which category it places an applicant in, what documents it needs and in what form, and what support exists after arrival. Official authorities handle entry, residence, working and health cover, and they are the only source worth relying on for any of it. The international student office is the place to start on the university's side, and it will say where its remit ends.
Leave time for the practical categories as well: the language of instruction and of administration, recognition of prior study, banking, insurance, registration and the shape of the opening month. Whether a student may work alongside study, and on what terms, is not something to assume; it is a question for the relevant official authority, and worth settling before any plan depends on an income. Our general material on student work describes the shape of the question without answering it for any country.
Admissions
No criteria appear in this section, by design. What is asked of applicants, how it is assessed and when it has to arrive are published by the institution for each programme and each intake, and they are revised, so a reproduction elsewhere is only ever a snapshot. Start from the official admissions pages for the programme you actually want, opened for the intake you actually mean.
Then make the unknowns explicit. Write out what you cannot resolve from the published material, put it to the admissions office, and keep the answers somewhere you can find them again. Treat anything a third party tells you as provisional until the institution confirms it. What this site records for the entry, and the limits of that, are described in our sources and methodology. U4S is not affiliated with the institution and does not speak for it.
Tuition and fees
This page carries no fee figure. Published amounts belong to a particular intake, they are revised, and what an individual is charged turns on their own situation, so a directory repeating a number would be handing false confidence to the people least placed to check it. The institution itself is the only sound source.
It may turn out that rates are set out programme by programme rather than for the institution as a whole, and that which set applies depends on the category a student falls into. Both are worth establishing rather than assuming, and both belong to the institution to state. Consider funding separately from the headline cost as well: how student funding and support generally work is a useful orientation, though what exists at any given institution is a question for it. Finish on its own fee pages for the relevant year, and check them again before paying.
Admissions
The institution’s own general admissions page. A particular programme may set requirements of its own, which this does not cover.

- Required documents
- Not located.
- Intake and deadlines
- Not reviewed. U4S publishes no deadline without the intake it belongs to, and has not read this page’s dates.
Entry requirements change between intakes and differ by programme, by the qualification you hold and by where you are applying from. U4S records where the official requirements are published and when that page was last retrieved — nothing more. Students should verify current requirements on the official admissions page before relying on anything.
Next verification step
Open the official admissions page and record, only where it states them explicitly: the intake it applies to, the deadlines with their years, and the applicant categories it covers. U4S records no grade, test score or acceptance rate at any point.

What the institution asks for
Read from the institution’s own admissions pages, in the institution’s own words and units. U4S does not decide whether anyone meets any of it.
U4S never converts between grading systems or between language tests. A GPA is not a percentage, a UK classification is not a German Note, and an IELTS band is not a TOEFL score — institutions decide what they accept, and only the institution’s own published threshold governs an application. Everything below is recorded in the units the institution itself used.
Language requirement
A language test the institution names, with its own threshold. U4S does not convert between tests.
- Institution-wideStated, but more than one value applies
Cambridge C1 Advanced or C2 Proficiency
U4S records no single value here: the page names more than one Cambridge qualification (C1 Advanced, C2 Proficiency) without settling which applies.

Requirements marked as institution-wide were read from a page that covers more than this programme. They are what the institution publishes for applicants generally, and the programme’s own requirements may differ.
Everything above is a partial reading of one page. The official admissions page is the only complete statement of what this institution asks for: https://www.uvic.ca/undergraduate/admissions/how-to-apply/index.php
Housing
Source locatedThis is about housing the institution itself runs. It says nothing about private rentals near the campus, which are a different market with different contracts, different prices and different consequences if something goes wrong.
- Official accommodation page
- www.uvic.ca/residence/index.php
- Housing application
- Not located. Apply through the accommodation page above.
- Does the institution manage housing itself?
- Not reviewed. Locating an accommodation page does not establish this — some such pages exist mainly to explain that the institution does not.
- Is housing guaranteed?
- Not reviewed. U4S states no guarantee unless the institution has stated one in writing, because a student would plan a move around it.
- Residence types
- Family accommodation
- Application period
- Not reviewed. U4S publishes no housing deadline without the year it belongs to.
- Cost
- Not reviewed. U4S publishes no rent figure without a currency, a period, a cycle and what it covers.
- Deposit
- Not reviewed. A deposit is not rent, and U4S records one only where the institution states it separately.
- Private renting
- U4S has not recorded whether this page covers private renting. Private accommodation is not university-managed housing, and U4S lists no private landlords or agencies.
Where a line reads “not reviewed”, U4S has not retrieved an official page stating it. That is a gap in U4S — it is never a statement that an institution has no housing, offers no guarantee, or has nothing available.
Next verification step
Confirm on the official accommodation page that what is recorded here still reads the same way, and record the application period with its year when the institution publishes it.

Official student support
Offices U4S has located on this institution’s own site. That an institution has a service means its website says so. It does not mean the service has capacity, answers quickly, can help with a particular problem, or that anybody found it useful. U4S measures none of those and publishes no rating of any service.
- Info for InternationalThe office that deals with applicants and students from abroad. · page retrieved and confirmed · contact form
U4S links to an institution’s own page or contact form and publishes no email address. A list of institutional addresses is a list for anybody who wants one, and a contact form routes a student’s question better than a shared inbox.
If somebody is in immediate danger, use the local emergency number rather than any service listed here. U4S has not verified a single institution’s emergency contact, and a partly-verified one is worse than none.
Programmes
Read from this institution’s own catalogue. Each title is reproduced exactly as the institution wrote it, and each programme page records the source it came from. This is not necessarily every programme the institution runs: it is what the catalogue U4S retrieved actually listed.
